San Fernando Valley
The San Fernando Valley is an urbanized valley located in the Los Angeles metropolitan area of southern California. The Valley is defined by the dramatic mountains of the Transverse Ranges which circle it. It is home to 1.76 million people, and lies north of the larger and more populated Los Angeles Basin. More than half of the land area of the city of Los Angeles lies within the San Fernando Valley.
It is home to the world’s major movie studios and attractions such as Universal Studios, which has thrilling roller coasters and tours of several movie sets located in the heart of the valley.
The Foothills of Southern California include the Foothills and Hills of the San Gabriel Valley, including those that are part of the Transverse Ranges in Lose Angeles County and the low mountain ranges of hills in the regional eastern Greater Los Angeles area. The Foothills provide greenbelts and are home to Open Space Preserves and Regional Parks.
Located in the Foothills is Eaton Canyon, which resides in Angeles National Forest. The canyons run along the San Gabriel Fault, once a major part of the San Andreas Fault. Eaton Canyon Falls has a waterfall with a 50-foot drop, above which many other smaller falls are located.
